Unit 2 Learning Aim A Task 1: Develop Ideas for a Digital Product
Scenario
21st Century production is embarking on a new venture for 2016. Horror!
We invite you to pitch an idea for a 60 second short film which not only reflects the typical codes and conventions of horror, but also a sense of originality. The film should appeal to young adults.
If successful you will be asked to turn your idea into a 60 second production. If this production proves popular you may be commissioned to expand your production into a full length feature.
Overview of Task
You should consider the brief in terms of who, why, what and where, including:
● target audience
● purpose - why produce the product? To inform, educate, entertain, provide a service
● platform - what will the product be and where will it be seen?
You will form a production company comprising of at least 2 members. Your first group meeting will decide on which film idea you are going to continue with. Before you meet each group member should keep notes and communicate at least two ideas both verbally and in written form. These ideas must be creative and not simply be a reiteration of ideas you have seen.
For each idea you must write an informal proposal that includes; plot outline, brief synopsis, SWOT analysis, costings and summary of the ideas.
You must present draft materials such as; mood boards, storyboards, sketching, audio-visual and mind maps to a focus group and get feedback on your ideas.
